Photo Storage Makeover | |
|
Friday 24th Aug 2012 |
Manhattan artist Christine Cincotta is a school teacher. During her summer off, she revamped her photo storage, upgrading old, worn photo boxes to archival Kolo Havana Boxes. Christine unleashed her creativity on the window labels, color-coding them with watercolor patterns. To ink the words, she used an Edison Mina fountain pen made from a lavender Ebonite or hard rubber that is “very warm in the hand and a delight to draw with.” She then used Platinum Carbon Black waterproof fountain-pen ink and Schmincke watercolors on Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper to create her mini works of art. Now Christine's photos and ephemera are safely stowed in archival storage boxes she’s proud to show off. The Kolo Havana Boxes are such a step up -- they really look beautiful! |

Embossed Kolo Covers | |
|
Monday 2nd Jul 2012 |
Pro photographers were the first to discover Kolo. Many use Kolo’s easy-load albums to show proofs, and scrapbook-style albums or photo books to let their photographs really shine. Here’s a Kolo Newbury album, embossed by Jenni Bick Bookbinding, that photographer Melissa Perella created for her newlywed clients. (Custom embossing is also available at Kolo. More information on that here.) Melissa calls her finished albums "storybooks." She prefers classic albums over photo books, as she explains in her blog. For more of Melissa's thoughts on the subject, as well as photos of her storybooks, go here. -Ugo |
