Flight Journal Album | |

Thursday 11th Dec 2008 |
Artist Lie Fhung used a chocolate Kolo Newport photo album to make a "journal album," documenting her experience creating and exhibiting her art installation, " flight ." To make the journal album, she also used products available at her site www.ztampf.com as well as Kolo accessories such as Kolo photo corners and Kolo clear protector sheets over each page, and a Kolo tape gun. This album was on display at a recent Kolo event at c!ty'super's Log-On store at Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. Other projects displayed at this event can be seen here and here and here and here. Here are some of Fhung's thoughts about her artistic journey on "flight" : 'flight' was created in Hong Kong in my tiny home-studio, a 2 x 2.5 sq.ft. room in our rented apartment in Causeway Bay then. I am still amazed sometimes that I managed to create everything for 'flight' despite the lack of space. The first, faint seed of 'flight' was conceived as early as 2001 when I was still working full time. It was a very long journey to the 'flight' Solo Exhibition in 2005. In 2007, 'flight' was chosen to represent Indonesia in an international ceramic biennale in Korea and later they purchased the entire work. I believed that 'flight' has contributed a lot to my being awarded the Freeman Fellowship which gave me the Artist Residency in Vermont. Many more photographs and details about this journal album, and the process of creating "flight" can be seen here. Also, you can read news articles about Fhung and her art, including the one shown in her journal album above, here. English translations are provided. |
