An update from Steve Light on his Kolo Luxury Cortina photo album hack:
It's dry finally. Here's how the Kolo Cortina looks after having been soaked in tea. Perfect! I wanted it to look beaten up and old and weathered for this project.
This album's covers are made with two boards sandwiched together. I had thought they might separate, but that didn't happen. If they had, and the album looked even more like it was falling apart, that would have been fine, too, because I wanted it to look in rough shape.
So in anticipation of that, I had gotten these brown leather straps, thinking I would use them to keep the album tied shut and make it look like it was worn and patched up. But instead I stuck the straps in the pages and decided that it looked pretty cool that way... old-fashioned... like a bookmark that you sometimes see sewn into older, beautifully made books.
I've been working on some sketches for the story, and I've got some ideas for the cover that I'm going to do over the weekend.
