In Patrick Ng's world, every object in his purview is fodder to fuel his imagination, leading to creative projects like this one. The photo album is a chartreuse Kolo Capri vertical brag book that Patrick painted with orange and yellow acrylic. Here's an excerpt from Patrick's project description: I like to shoot film and usually ask the lab to print all the photos -- gotta feel the pain of complete failure in order to shoot better, especially when I'm not familiar with a new camera. This inevitably left me with a LOT of prints I won't throw away, but shy to show by themselves. Many of them are not too bad, in fact good enough to be a backdrop of other great photos... You can find more photos and discussion of this project here, and more fodder for your own imagination at Patrick's blog Scription, Thoughts on Stationery and Beyond. And you can see other cool Koloist posts by Patrick Ng here... and here... and here... and here. |

Interesting thought.
how was it, painting the covers of the book? i mean, was it easy or a a little tricky?
how did you keep paint off the kolo tag? did you paint the end leaves of the book, too? did u tape your edges? and if so, what kind of tape did you use, and did it come off easily? i want to try this. like the color of my book (it is black) but this just looks like fun.
Painting around the KOLO tag was easy. Paint with diluted color and gradually sip more condensed paint beneath the tag using a very flat brush. You don't need to use tapes this way.
I like the fact that the KOLO fabric looks like a canvas, sprang the idea to paint over it. I'm gonna paint more on the cover and create an album for my son..... within 2009 ;)
