Annie Liebovitz At Work | |

Wednesday 7th Jan 2009 |
To hear someone who was there tell the story, the customer service department at Kolo (at the time still a fledgling start-up) was all verklempt and atwitter the day Annie Liebovitz herself called to place an order for Kolo photo albums. As the Kolo rep who took the call said, It made us feel like, "Wow. We have arrived." Ya, we're talking about Annie Liebovitz of Rolling Stone fame... Vanity Fair fame... John Lennon nude with Yoko Ono fame. That's the one. Congrats and hats off to arguably the most famous portrait photographer of all time, for the publication of her new book, ("part memoir, part casual manifesto") called Annie Liebovitz At Work. Here's an excerpt of a review by Thomas Mallon: In one of her many meditations on taking pictures, Susan Sontag wrote that "all photographs aspire to the condition of being memorable - that is, unforgettable." Annie Leibovitz, Sontag's lover before her death in 2004, says she doesn't really "have a single favorite photograph" among those she's taken; it's her body of work, its "accumulation," that gives her the most satisfaction. For the entire article go to International Herald Tribune. What's your favorite Annie Liebovitz photograph? Why? |
