OK, I'm impressed...

Was it hard to do and have you found the pastels are holding up well and the wood glued in, is staying in place?

Now if you could just get one of the Kolo Photo albums to hold all my make-up LOL

Nice work Steve it is always fun to see what you have created--I love the albums, but maybe Kolo should look into making some other items, like a case?

Well, Nancy, the pastels are holding up well. There is a foam piece I put on top of the pastels before closing the box. That piece keeps the pastels from moving at all. The wood is staying very strong also. The only thing is the box is kinda heavy to carry every day! I am thinking of making a Kolo Capri into a smaller more portable and lighter case!

How did you get the pages out without wrecking the spine? I had one of these albums (gave it away though) and I remember it did not have the kind of binding that you could easily remove the pages and take the binding apart.

The pages were very easy to remove by cutting the binding strings. The paper signatures are sewn through the binding spine and are exposed. This beautiful design of these books makes it easy to remove the pages even though the binding is very strong(never had any pages come loose on their own!).

This project is great, Steve. And that New York Times article is hilarious -- thanks for that, Ugo. Some friends of mine keep nude photos of themselves in books in their apartment. So embarrassing when you borrow a book. Their sense of humor is twisted, but we love 'em.

I know Nancy was joking- but I think the large Havana would make a great make-up holder. I keep jewelry in mine. To keep it light I made the divider walls out of foam core covered in a thin decorative japanese paper.

Hildi, that sounds pretty cool. Would love to see that. If you get a chance to take a photo, please send it in and share it with us. Maybe Nancy actually will end up with a Kolo makeup case. :)
