This is just too amusing to ignore. A Koloist who wishes to remain anonymous shared this in response to a previous discussion about things found in books (see recent post Cortina Pastel Box). This postcard is just one of many examples of interesting, poignant, hilarious and curious book finds that appear on the new web site www.thingsinbooks.com Here’s what the person who found it wrote: I know you doubt it, but the post card is actually hawking related. The Rare Bird Farm in Miami, Florida sent a message to the effect "No, we don't have hawks." Photo by Bunny Yeager. Now to decide if I should sell the postcard separate on eBay, or just leave it in the book where I found it for the next guy. honestly though, who uses a typewriter to write a postcard?! I hope Mr. James P. Dawson is among hawks, wherever he may be. he could still be alive, you never know... To quote the editor of the web site, finding such things “leaves you to marvel at the chaotic universe around us...” Speaking of postcards, have we any collectors of interesting postcards amongst us? Please share. Do you keep them in boxes or albums, or tuck them into books for others to find? Post a comment here. Or if you're shy, too, come to the back door to chat with just Ugo -- click on "Contact" top right. |
