Cleo: no, they are just hung lined up with a very slight gaps between them so the lids don't get stuck/logged and people can lift them to see the content inside the boxes. The glass was broken indeed, but the metal frame hold the pieces together. I also dropped some glue in discreet strategic points to help keep the pieces together as well. You can see what's on the other side here: http://art.liefhung.com/blog/2009/06/25/portal-002-disclosed/
