A Musical Journey | |
|
Thursday 20th May 2010 |
Music plays a special role in my life as a method of expressing my mood and feelings. I often give situations in my life corresponding music or sounds. Naturally, along with music, dance follows as one of the strongest ways of expressing myself. -Simone Haupt, Artist. Simone Haupt’s book shows portraits of people in Berlin who have had a large impact on her life, all playing a part in the soundtrack of the city. The many street musicians, operas, theaters, galleries, small stages, pubs and music schools in Berlin influenced the art on the pages of this book. A musical journey begins. Technical drawer Simone Haupt grew up in Bad Kissingen in Northern Bavaria and is now studying in Berlin. She chose a red Kolo Newbury to create this work. Kate |

FANTASTIC. Did you draw directly onto the pages of the book? I would not have the courage.
Do you leave the opposing page blank to protect the art, or is that a design decision?
Did you treat the works so they would not smudge onto the opposing page, and with what?
thanks for your comment. To your questions, yes in this case i draw directly in the book. I always work like this.
To draw the painting on a seperate page was a design decision, but also to protect every single work. I don`t use any kind of finish to protect the oil pastel chalk paintings, because i found nothing to intensify the stability. The transparency paper between the blank pages is the only protection.
But this is ok, the work with oil pastel chalk give the images a special kind of vitality, because they don`t accept directness (perfection).
greetings, Simone
especially like the singer and all the white you used in that one
